The clitoral hood is a protective fold of skin covering the clitoris. Clitoral hood reduction is a procedure which reduces the thickness and length of this skin in order to increase clitoral stimulation and sensitivity during sexual intercourse. It is often performed in conjunction with a labiaplasty. The excess tissue is removed from the clitoral hood and its shape is carefully sculpted. The incisions are then closed using melting stitches, which the body absorbs in approximately two weeks. Once you have fully healed, the scars will be practically invisible.

The skin covering the clitoris is present at birth. In certain women, the clitoral hood may be thicker or longer, leading to possible hygiene issues. Furthermore, this excess skin can seem disproportionate in size and make the genitalia less visually appealing.
